The Basics Of Making A Video Or A Film

By Warren Dubrowski

When you want to make a video, you may opt to do this using some free software or do it using the internet. In making a video, educating and entertaining your target audience should be your goal. Before you start, a few basics must be clear. You must have a clear cut purpose for your video. The article below gives the six basic steps for you to follow if you are to make a video production worth anyone's time.

Step number one is having your basics in order. Knowing what works and what does not work in any aspect of life is very important. For instance, people watch a lot of TV; they therefore expect anything they watch to be similar to that. Make your work as simple as possible especially if your target audience is the layman. A long production should be divided into segments of ten minutes; this removes the boredom which normally accompanies long productions.

Once you have the above in mind, your second step will be planning. The shoot date, shoot location and the crew to make it all happen should be know well in advance. The budget of the entire production should be draw. Also, the subject matter of the work and practice run date are important points to have in your plan.

Step three: Step three is the pre production. This is the phase were practice and more practice is involved. Your subject matter expert must be dully instructed so he knows what the production is about and its intended objective. You as the producer should let your subject matter expert personality shine.

Your subject matter expert should be comfortable with the material. This is important because the minute it's not working for them, then the entire crew starts to waste time. Let the personality of the subject matter expert shine. Do not be so worried about perfection, if your subject matter expert makes some mistake just let them go on this will give the skit some human face.

Once your practice is done, step number four is the production. During the production date, the subject matter expert must be briefed on the kit and be as comfortable as possible. Make sure your equipment is working a few hours before the shoot. It is also advisable to have the shoot in segments this helps your crew relax.

Step five: The fifth step is the post production. This is where your editor comes in. To make your editing runs as smooth as possible, it is advisable to have your editor present during the shoot. Having the editor around during the shoot improves the editing in the long run. Briefing with your team after each shoot and taking notes can be very helpful during editing.

The sixth and one of the most vital steps in making a video is the learners' experience. The target audience must be able to access your production with reasonable ease. Learners experience is the main goal here, what use is a quality production with poor learners' experience. One way of optimizing learners experience is having your work use content delivery networks. This is because most people have access to content delivery networks and will easily access your work. As a producer factoring in these six basic steps will greatly improve your production.
